Students at Clayton Hall Academy in Newcastle under Lyme Celebrate a Strong Set of GCSE Results

22nd August 2024

Students at Clayton Hall Academy are celebrating today after receiving their GCSE results.

After much hard work studying and preparing, students at the school, which joined Windsor Academy Trust in January, are collecting a set of strong GCSE results and getting ready to take their next steps in their educational journey.

The school achieved well, with students attaining an average grade of 5.  Over half of students achieved the crucial pass in both English and Maths, whilst almost 40% achieved the much more challenging ‘strong pass’ in both subjects.

Subjects that saw particular success included Photography, History and Physical Education. In Computer Science, 46% achieved top grades; and in Chemistry 37% gained the top grades. Students did especially well in Performing Arts (42% Distinction or better); and in Health and Social Care (25% Distinction or better).

Clayton Hall Academy students are now looking forward to progressing onto their chosen further education institutions.

While all pupils have done incredibly well, there are some standout individual achievements. These include:

  • Ethan - 5 Grade 9s and 4 Grade 8s
  • Matthew - 6 Grade 9s, 2 Grade 8s and a Grade 7
  • Pip - 5 Grade 9s, 3 Grade 8s and a Grade 7
  • Abbas - 5 Grade 9s, 1 Grade 8 and 3 Grade 7s

Collecting GCSE results today, Josh, said: I really can’t believe I’ve done so well, and I’m so proud of myself and would like to thank my teachers who have supported me”.

Caty Reid, Headteacher at Clayton Hall Academy, said:
“I am incredibly proud of how hard all of our students have worked to achieve these fabulous results. These qualifications set our young people up for success in the next stage of their educational career whether that be via A-levels, T-levels, BTECs or Apprenticeship.”

Dawn Haywood, Chief Executive Officer at Windsor Academy Trust, said:
“I am delighted to see students from across the Windsor Academy Trust family achieve such strong results in their GCSEs today. I couldn’t be prouder of our students and our staff who have worked so hard for these successes.”
