At Clayton, we strive to create a community where every student feels a deep sense of belonging and is empowered to achieve their fullest potential. We are committed to fostering academic excellence, athletic prowess, and active participation in clubs and extracurricular activities, equipping our students with the skills needed for success in secondary school, college, apprenticeships, and employment.
Our focus is on developing well-rounded, resilient, and compassionate individuals who are prepared to face the challenges of the future. Through our dedication to the pastoral pledge, and by cultivating independence and courage, we aim to inspire each student to climb their own personal Aspire Mountain.
Together, we celebrate daily achievements and reward the collective efforts of our students, ensuring that each one leaves Clayton as a confident, capable, and considerate young adult ready to contribute positively to society.
Every student is allocated to a tutor group. Each group is led by a Form Tutor, who typically remains with the tutor group for the five years that students are at our school.
The Form Tutor is a key member of staff, responsible for creating a happy, secure, and supportive environment for their tutor group. Students benefit from having someone to turn to for support and guidance. They meet with their Tutor every morning, providing daily opportunities for students to connect and engage.
We have four Houses: Ambition, Determination, Integrity and Valour. Each House is identified by its own distinct colour, and students wear a badge that reflects the House colour. The Houses are led by the Heads of House, Miss Hodgkinson, Mr Williams, Mr Johnson and Mr Longshaw, who uphold the key values of Ambition, Determination, Integrity, and Valour.
The House system offers students the opportunity to collectively participate in a wide variety of activities. These include fundraising, sporting events, quizzes, board games, and much more. The programme of events evolves throughout the year, catering to the diverse interests of our students. It has become an important part of our extracurricular offerings, encouraging involvement and fostering school spirit.
Selected students from each year are appointed as House Seniors, while in Year 11, Prefects are attached to each House. These students take on leadership roles, helping to organise and run various events, and serve as role models for younger students. We also encourage students from all year groups to take on leadership roles throughout the year.
All competitions and activities contribute to the overall score for identifying the House of the Year. Throughout the school year, we celebrate the many achievements and successes through House assemblies, the weekly newsletter, and active participation in and support for various events.
The House system has been enthusiastically embraced by our students, and we continue to build on its strengths, raising standards and fostering a culture of achievement and teamwork.
